The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is doing pioneering work in the area of computer science in and engineering the light of the latest development in the area of computer science and technology.

As scientific and engineering disciplines go, computer science is still quite young. Although the mathematical roots of computer science go back more than a thousand years, it is only with the invention of the programmable electronic digital computer during the World War II era of the 1930s and 1940s that the modern discipline of computer science began to take shape. As it has developed, computer science includes theoretical studies, experimental methods, and engineering design all in one discipline.

Computer science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information.

Study of computers, their design, and their uses for computation, data processing, and systems control, including design and development of computer hardware and software, and programming. The field encompasses theory, mathematical activities such as design and analysis of algorithms, performance studies of systems and their components, and estimation of reliability and availability of systems by probabilistic techniques.
