Guest Lecturer – Dr. Ranjan Ghosh
Dr. Ranjan Ghosh is presently Mentor and Visiting Professor at IIM Kashipur (Uttarakhand). He has five decades of experience as a Professor, Trainer, Researcher and Consultant in India and abroad in the fields of Operations Management, Project Management, Technology Management, Logistics/Supply Chain Management and Risk Management. He has been a Professor at IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore and IIT Kharagpur, and Director at Goa Institute of Management. He worked for three years with International Business Machines (IBM) and Communication Satellite Corporation in USA. He has been on research and teaching assignments at Columbia University, Cornell University and the University of Iowa in U.S.A., and at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He has been a Guest Professor at several IIMs and Management Institutes in Singapore, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Ghosh is on the Governing Body of several Management Institutes. He has also been a member of several expert committees set up by the Government of India as also the State Government. At the IIM Calcutta, Dr. Ghosh had held various administrative positions, including Director-In-Charge for a year and Membership of the IIMC Board of Governors for two terms.
Dr. Ghosh is the co-author of a book on Productivity and Efficiency, and is presently writing a book on ‘The Role of Operations Management and Innovation in Competitiveness’. He has a number of research publications, and has presented papers in many national and international conferences. He has undertaken consulting assignments for Indian Oil Corp., Oil & Natural Gas Corp, Ordnance Factory Board, Indian Air Force, Steel Authority of India Ltd, Coal India Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, South Eastern Railway, South East Central Railway, Kolkata Port Trust, Garden Reach Ship Builders & Engineers Ltd, MAMC, West Bengal State Electricity Board, Institute of Entrepreneurship-Guwahati, IIIT-Allahabad, Durgapur Projects Limited and Great Eastern Hotel. He has conducted more than one hundred and fifty Management Development Programmes and In-House Training Programs.
He holds a B. Tech (1st Class Hon) from I.I.T. Kharagpur, an M.S. from Stanford University, and a M.S. and D.Sc. from Columbia University.
