Students of MBA semester II Batch (2022-24) Accurate Institute of Management & Technology visited AMUL’s Banas Dairy Unit, Faridabad, Haryana, on 30th May 2023 on an industrial learning and analyzing visit. This plant was at IMT, Sector 68, Faridabad, Haryana 121004, India. Banas Dairy is a cooperative union of Banas Kantha district farmers and Asia's largest dairy for milk processing. Banas Dairy is a part of one of the leading revolutions of India –the "White Revolution.”
The representative of the Banas plant shared detailed information about the products manufactured, manufacturing capacity, quality check mechanisms, raw material sourcing, and distribution of finished goods, manufacturing processes, machine-based packing, safe procurement, and the variety of products.
Then students were taken to Amul's milk and cottage-cheese manufacturing unit, where they were shown how milk is packed using robotics and human-friendly machines and software. The milk arrives in Delhi in special milk trains (6.5 lakh litres per train) hired by Amul and trucks (1.5 lakh litres per truck). The Faridabad plant of the cooperative claims to process 85% of the milk collected from Gujrat and the rest from the DELHI-NCR region.
Students were also given information about the effective Supply Chain Management techniques used by Amul, which helps it to be a top milk producer and distributor not just in its native land India but also in the rest of the world. The cooperative uses high-tech software to stay connected with all plants set up all around the globe.
The cooperative claimed to produce the purest possible milk, backed by acute testing of milk samples by heavy investment and equipment of high accuracy.
The students were shown two videos showcasing the relationship between Banas Dairy and AMUL, the history of AMUL, and how it became a leader among dairy products processing cooperatives and companies.
The video session ended with a question-answer round in which the students clarified their doubts about milk and plant. They also gave some valuable suggestions for minor improvements, effective knowledge sharing, and improving the
understanding of the industry.
The visit ended by enjoying a bottle of Amul Kool with every student before they departed for the college.
