This year rail budget was merged with the general budget and was presented by our finance minister Mr. Arun Jaitely before the end of financial year 2016-2017. The total fund allocated to railways of Rs. 1,31,000 crore our finance minister has left no stones unturned to provide better to provide better services to the people. In the budget various new schemes were launched that are as follows:

1. For passenger safety rashtriya rail sanrakshan kosh will be created for corpus of Rs. 1 lakh crore.
2. Unmanned level crossings on broad gauge lines is to eliminated till 2020
3. Dedicated trains to be launched for tourism and pilgrimage.
4. 500 stations will be made for physically disabled people providing lift and escalators.
5. 7000 stations will be powered with solar energy
6. Coach Mitra facility will be provided to register all coach related complaints.
7. Bio-toilets for all coaches will be provided till 2019.
8. No service charge on booking from IRCTC.
9. New metro rail policy will be announced.

Though the schemes launched was not sufficient  for the Indian people but still our finance minister has done his best to provide better services to the people. Overall the rail budget of 2017-18 was effective, providing employment opportunity to the youth, better service to the users and trying to provide cleanliness to the people.
